Summary: Tui, his cousin Jennifer and their whanau go to the south Kaipara to visit their Uncle Rua and Auntie Mina (who grew up in Malaysia). Exploring the area down to Muriwai, they learn about ancient taniwha (guardians/monsters), extinct and endangered animals and trees, kaitiakitanga (stewardship) and tupuna (ancestors), and discover how the area has a Second World War connection.
